The evolution wireless series has undergone both technical and design changes.

The most obvious change that will affect you is on the pocket receivers... they now feature what Sennheiser call 'Adaptive Diversity reception', the audio output cable is rather clever and now acts as a second antennae giving the unit 'adaptive diversity' capability!

Some other clever stuff exists also like being able to sync a transmitter to a receiver allowing for quicker setup times on location.

The ew100-ENG G3 system makes up a complete set of recording equipment. In addition to the portable receiver, the system includes a bodypack transmitter with a clip-on microphone as well as a plug-on transmitter, a hot shoe camera mount for the receiver and cables to make it all work.

NB The plug on transmitter does not supply phantom power. If your microphone needs phantom power you will need the SKP300 transmitter which adds about £190.00 to the price.

A great must-have for the kit bag and an ideal partner for any Sennheiser G3 system.

The SKP300 plug-on transmitter is compatible with all G3 systems and plugs onto any microphone that has a 3 pin XLR

The SKP 300 also has switchable 48 volt phantom power so it is ideal to use on a boom pole with a 416.

The sensitivity can be adjusted and there is a switchable pad so it is also ideal to take a line level feed at a press conference to link back to your camera position.

It can also be used with a cleen feed provided with a Sat truck, a TBU or even the XLR out of your mixer and partnered with an IEM receiver such as the EK 300 IEM receiver for presenter talkback or director's cans.

So, as you can see, quite a versatile bit of kit and a valuable add-on to your kitbag.

The ew300 G3 has also undergone a massive re-design... new features include a five-band graphic equalizer in the transmitter, true diversity reception, a switchable Hi Boost function and a switchable multi-level limiter.

The transmitter…
…features an integrated equalizer as a special highlight, enabling artists to adjust the sound to its optimum. The RF output power can be switched between 30 mW and 10 mW, allowing users to choose between a greater range or improved multi-channel capability.

The bodypack receiver…
…can be switched between mono, stereo and Focus Mode. In Focus Mode, musicians can adjust their personal mix between the band signal and their own instrument or voice. The new "Adaptive Diversity" reception, which uses the earphone cable as a second antenna, further enhances the receiver's operating reliability. A switchable multi-channel limiter protects the artist's hearing from excessive volumes and volume peaks. If the receiver is to be used with magnetic instead of dynamic earphones, a Hi Boost function can be actuated to provide full sound in the treble range. As an environmentally friendly feature, the bodypack receivers can also be used with Sennheiser's rechargeable battery packs. The batteries can be recharged through external charging contacts while remaining in the receivers.
